The Challenge

A large and fast-growing city faced significant inefficiencies from managing more than 150 legacy reports spread across multiple departments. The sheer volume of reports created silos, duplicated effort, and limited the ability to conduct advanced analytics beyond basic operational reporting. Internal teams struggled to align on shared insights, while external reporting to citizens lacked transparency and accessibility.

To better serve both its workforce and the community, the city needed to consolidate its reporting ecosystem into a modern, visual platform that would foster a more data-driven culture and strengthen citizen engagement.

Lifescale Analytics’ Solution

Lifescale Analytics partnered with the city to re-imagine its reporting environment. Our team conducted a thorough data analysis and profiling exercise to assess existing report usage and quality, then designed a strategy to reduce redundancy and maximize efficiency. Using Power BI, we consolidated more than 100 internal reports into just six streamlined dashboards tailored to the specific needs of the Buildings Department and other key city functions.

We also migrated external-facing reports into modern Power BI dashboards available through the city’s public website. This transition improved both transparency and usability, enabling citizens to access timely, visual insights rather than static reports. Behind the scenes, Lifescale Analytics built Azure datasets and ETL processes to ensure clean, reliable data flowed into the dashboards, providing a foundation for future analytics and predictive capabilities.
